Step One: Install the SSRPM Admin Console

The SSRPM Admin Console is the primary interface through with system administrators can set up and configure the SSRPM service and enrollment options.  To install the Admin Console, follow these steps:

  1. Download and run the latest SSRPM setup file.
  2. Accept the license agreement, and continue clicking Next through the installation wizard.
  3. Click Install to begin the installation.
  4. Click Finish when prompted.
  5. Launch the Admin Console from the start menu, if you did not already choose to launch it when the installer finished.

Step Two: Install the SSRPM Service

The SSRPM service handles all challenge/response requests, as well as all subsequent password change requests.  All instances of the Admin Console, Desktop Client, and Web Portal will connect to this central service.  To install the service, follow these steps:

  1. Upon launching the Admin Console for the first time, you will be prompted to Connect to a service, or Install a service.  Click on the Install button

    • If you are not presented with that option, you can install the service by clicking on Service Management and selecting Setup...
  2. Click Next
  3. Enter the hostname of the server where you wish to install the SSRPM service and click Next
  4. Accept the default installation directory, or change it if you so desire, and click Next
  5. Accept the default TCP/IP port, and click Next
  6. Modify the default username and password (a random value by default) of the service account to suit your preferences.  If this account does not exist, SSRPM will attempt to create it. Click Next when finished.
  7. Change the group that the SSRPM Service account will be added to, if you so desire.  We recommend using the default Domain Admins group, but this may not be desired or permissible in your environment.  Click Next when finished.
  8. Change the group that will have administrative access to the SSRPM service (or add additional groups), if you so desire.  Click Next when finished.
  9. Select the type of database that you wish to use to store SSRPM enrollment data, and click Next.

    • Note: For production implementations, we recommend selecting Microsoft SQL over Microsoft Jet.  This type of installation will require additional steps that involve connecting to an instance of SQL Server.
  10. If you wish to receive emails from SSRPM, fill out the Email Server NameFrom address, and To address fields.  Click Next when finished.
  11. Click Finish to begin the installation.

Next Steps

In order for end-users to begin using SSRPM, you must install and configure either the Web Portal, Desktop Client, or both.  Information on installing and configuring those components can be found under the installation directory of the Admin Console, inside of the Documentation folder (e.g, C:\Program Files (x86)\Tools4ever\SSRPM\Admin Console\Documentation).
